New Year’s Eve is a time for reflection, and this year it could be all about reflecting on the past. The “new years eve party theme ideas for adults” are great ways to help you get started with your plans.
There’s something for everyone, from arctic plunges to movie evenings at home.
ATASCADERO — ATASCADERO — ATASCADERO — There are lots of entertaining ways to ring in the New Year in the North County, whether you’re planning on going out or remaining home!
If you’re a single female, for example, you may wish to sleep with your leftover Christmas mistletoe beneath your pillow on New Year’s Eve, since this is an Irish custom. It’s said that sleeping with the plant would help you locate the guy of your dreams.
However, if you’re not tired and want to do something local while getting out of the home, go to a late-night film! Choose a film that ends about midnight and see it at your favorite local theater. While you wait for 2022 to begin, it will keep you engaged and alert.
We’re going to get through this together, Atascadero
If staying up until midnight isn’t your thing, how about spending the whole day celebrating New Year’s Eve? Old Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Eve, as it’s known in the United Kingdom. Choose a few nations that are in various time zones and celebrate the same way they do throughout the day.
In Portugal, people drink champagne and eat 12 raisins (one for each month of the year) while making wishes. As soon as the clock strikes midnight in Turkey, sprinkle salt on your threshold to bring peace and prosperity.
Have your pals over and set up a champagne bar if you like drinking bubbly, which is a typical New Year’s Eve custom. Try as many different types as you can. Champagne cocktails, fancy champagne, five-buck-chuck champagne The possibilities are endless.
If you’re feeling very brave, write your wishes on a piece of paper, burn them over a candle flame, and then drink the ashes in a glass of champagne, like the Russians do. (Please note: wish ashes in champagne are not to be consumed.)
Or, if you want to be a bit more subdued, go to an indoor campsite. Build the largest pillow fort you’ve ever seen with the kids (or without). While watching When Harry Met Sally or playing your favorite board games, snuggle up with your favorite folks and sip on refreshments.
And for those who like cooking at all hours of the day and night, how about a midnight brunch? Breakfast for dinner is the best, and if you’re dining around midnight, it’s the ideal cross-over meal. Plus, there’s nothing like a stack of pancakes to soak up all that bubbly.
And, as they do in Denmark, after you’re done with midnight brunch, you can always toss your dishes at your friends’ and neighbors’ front doors. According to legend, the larger the pile of shattered dishes on your doorway, the better the following year will be. However, you should most likely simply wash them.
Then there’s the Polar Bear Plunge, if you’re looking for a way to break the ice in the New Year. On New Year’s Day, daredevils all over the globe have resorted to dashing into the closest body of water and having a plunge. In 1904, the first reported dive occurred in Dorchester Bay, Massachusetts. The 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place at Avila Beach on January 1, 2022. If you’re up for it, meet at 11:30 a.m. on the east side of the Avila pier, and remember to “Be Bold, Get Cold!”
So, whether you’re going out to a local bar, attending a lavish party, going to the movies, or remaining in with the ones you care about the most, have a wonderful New Year!
