The Lakers are considering the only option of getting rid of Russell Westbrook. There may be a way to do this without having to pay him but it would involve sending him back after being on waivers for one day, which is not likely due to the NBA’s rules. The question now becomes how desperate will they be?

The “russell westbrook news” is a recent article that discusses how the Lakers are the only team that could possibly get rid of Russell Westbrook. The article also mentions how this may be a last-resort option for the Lakers to trade Russell Westbrook.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ intention to transfer star point guard Russell Westbrook has been written on the wall for some months. Due to his failures to regain his footing, Westbrook’s homecoming has been everything but joyous, and his performance has rendered him and his contract seemingly unmovable.

The Lakers’ unsuccessful trade efforts before the deadline last month highlighted how difficult it would be to part ways with the nine-time All-Star. All of this may push the team to make a last-ditch effort to secure Westbrook’s exit.

Tensions between Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers are escalating.

The responsibility for the Lakers’ rocky 2021-22 season has fallen squarely on Westbrook’s shoulders.

Tensions have been building behind the scenes as the former league MVP continues to struggle in his debut season in Los Angeles. Westbrook has openly said that he will assist the Lakers get back on track to contending for the NBA championship.

Meanwhile, Magic Johnson, a Hall of Famer, was incensed by his recent perplexing words about having no expectations. Management has expressed a desire to send Westbrook to the bench, which has transformed the conversation.

Regardless of how rough the road ahead looks, these numerous challenges all point to an ultimate exit. The Lakers have one more chance to trade the underperforming point guard.

Russell Westbrook’s last shot to leave the Lakers may be a last-ditch effort.

The Lakers are in for a major dilemma if the dearth of league interest in Westbrook before to the trade deadline last month is any indicator of his future trade market.

The talented point guard is expected to use his $47 million player option for the 2022-23 season. Although the enormous remaining contract is a significant roadblock, The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Bill Oram pointed out that the Lakers still have the ability to use the stretch clause.

“As for Westbrook, who has one year remaining on his $47 million contract, it’s difficult to see him returning next season,” Oram and Amick wrote. “Yet although there are strong signals that his retirement is a foregone conclusion, his contract remains large, and it always takes two to tango.” The Lakers may also opt to release and extend Westbrook’s contract (his remaining money would be allocated to the following three seasons for salary cap reasons).”

Los Angeles may absolutely go that way, but his $47 million would count against the cap for a total of $15.68 million over the next three seasons. The relocation would move Westbrook, but it would have a severe financial effect on the organization, financially constraining it.

By relinquishing a major portion of his salary in a buyout, the 33-year-old might assist the Lakers. That path, though, does not seem realistic, as Westbrook will want to get the most out of the remainder of his deal.

Los Angeles remains committed to capturing the NBA championship in 2022.

The Lakers are still intent on winning the NBA championship in 2022, no matter how stressful the situation has grown.

Los Angeles is currently in ninth place in the Western Conference, five games behind the eighth-placed Clippers. There’s a long way to go, but there are 19 games remaining to make up ground and get some much-needed momentum.

Although Westbrook’s time with the team is short, the remaining schedule allows him to demonstrate his abilities. Although his time as a No. 1 option may be over, he still has a lot to gain in the last month of the regular season.

The Lakers’ road forward may not seem good, but with LeBron James leading the way and if Anthony Davis returns, the organization has a chance to reverse that narrative.
